Can't break tradition now

Last year we started a tradition that we don't plan on breaking as long as we live here on Maui. . .and that is: on the last day of school we go to Mama's Fish House to eat dessert. Just a way of celebrating the kids accomplishing another year of education.
Can I just say-yummmmmmmmmmmm?
Mama's Fish House is said to be the first Fresh Fish Restaurant on Maui. It has been around since 1973 started by the Christenson family. It's a casual, yet beautiful place with a gorgeous ocean view and wonderful ambience of Aloha. There are neat wooden benches, art work, japanese glass floats hanging from the ceiling and celebrity photos with their autographs. Kind of pricey, but if you go at lunch time and get a salad or a dessert it's not too shabby. Compliments from the chef are a fresh bisque (we had tomato ginger soup this time) and a cute little loaf of honeywheat poppyseed bread. After we are done eating we like to walk down to the beach, & check out the tidepools etc. . .we wanted to swim, but the kids were sunburned from the May Day the day before. I like these pix Liz took of me and Leena. . . especially because last year she was still in my tummy!

When you are finished eating they give you a haupia (coconut pudding square) and a hot towel which my kids thought would be hilarious to put over there faces. . .not kidding!! Check out the following photo that was taken last year-(who's their mother and what kind of etiquette is she teaching her children? LOL

What can I say? It was the first time they had ever been offered a hot towel at a restaurant. I said it's to wash your face and hands after you eat, you know, to freshen up. . .(this is their interpretation)  Liz stuck some leaf pieces over her eyes too-love my silly babes!!!
Awwww-check out my pregnant belly with my little Leena babe. . . so glad she got to be part of our tradition in person this time. . .until next year!
