We had such a fun campin trip with our friends the Jeppsons. We both had never been here before. I felt deprived, no jipped-all the years I lived on Maui and never knew about this spot. :0) It was gorgeous-there was a black sand beach (*swim-at-your-own-risk-because of jellyfish and portuguese man-of-war), caves and crevices & greenage all around. Can't forget the smores, poi balls, playing catch, tag, climbin on rocks, ukulele playin, huskin coconuts, find the slippah game(*when its dark we throw out a slipper and all the kids search for it with flashlights), and yummy delicious foil dinners.
This was probably the coolest and most beautiful place we've been in a while. It was a fresh water pool just within a mile of our campsite. The color was Amazing!! We all had the best time jumpin off and swimming-(you could go under the cave too/basically a lava tube) The little hike down to it had the kids hangin like monkeys on the branches. Ethan was a sweet boy for carrying his baby sister back to the parking lot. Can't wait to go back here again. David wants to bring his scuba gear and dive light next time to explore a little further.
Maui's own. . .Lava Tube self-guided tour. This opened up to the public 14 years ago. It cost $11 for each person over age 5. ($11.95 non-kamaaina) Hard hats(optional) and flashlights were provided. In order to hike through the whole thing it would take 27 HOURs! . . .but only a small section is open to people like us. It took us about 40-45 minutes altogether. It was a chocolate brown color all around, with stalagmites "dripping" from the ceiling. It was pitch black in there. We tried to have all the kids turn off their lights, but the little ones weren't sold on the idea. It only lasted for 1/2 a second.
After the campin was done-David had to go work on a clients computer. He had a house off the road to Hana, in the Keanae Peninsula area. . . yet another place on Maui we had never been too. :0) This area was quiet, peaceful and green vegetation all around. Check out the waterfall. It reminded me of the one in Waipio Valley on the Big Island. His client took us to his Taro Patch. He drove us in his truck and we walked for about what felt like a mile (we were probably just tired)
The people there were developin a bed, so they let the kids "run" around in it. It was pretty awesome. They Loved it! . . . and then they got to rinse off in the stream. Love the outdoors. We were so thankful for all the beauty and family fun-time we got to experience. The kids are still talkin about our campin trip to this day. Spring break is coming up-don't worry guys, I definetly see more campin in the near future.

Looks like a great adventure. I'll have to find out more about it so we can check it out. I love how active you guys are. Fun to see all you do!
I wanna go camping with your family!!! That looks and sounds like so much fun!
Suzy you and your family look so happy. What beautiful pictures and I bet you all had a blast. I think that is what I miss the most about not being in CO is the Rocky Mountain National Park and just getting out in nature. Also, enjoying camping with members of the church. We don't have things like that here in Louisiana. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
