The "other" road towards Hana is finally open so we took it. It looks like this for the beginning-nice and paved and not very windy.
Then you come to some road that looks like this. A few spots of dirt road and some windy turns and your at Kipahulu Campground which is right next to the pools in the Haleakala National park.
We waited about a half hour until my dad and Arlene came, and the kids helped set up tents.
Here we are relaxing after setting up all the tents.
Flying kites. . .
At the tents again-David and Ethan are carving wood with their pocket knives. Girls played games and had fun being in the tents.
Can't go camping without smores. . .
The next morning we woke up at 6:40 to a beautiful sunrise. One of my favorite parts about camping in this spot. Its still cool out, but the sun is shining brightly.
Grandpa and Ethan played ball and frisbee.
The girls hanging out at the pools. This was the first day they opened them in 3 weeks-(the levels have been too high at the upper areas) It was pretty windy and cold here. The girls were the only ones that got in.
Liz even jumped. . .can't wait to go again soon!
